Anything But the Gym Welcomes Summer 2010's Lead Captain, Allison Vernon!


       

Allison Vernon is an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer and nutrition expert from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.  She currently operates Allison Vernon Personal Training—a health and nutrition counseling service located in downtown Manhattan.  You can catch her on the cover of this month’s Natural Body Building and Fitness Magazine!  Allison can also be seen in the pages of SELF, Fitness and Best Body and has been featured in several health and fitness segments on CNN and CBS’s The Early Show.

So, join us for a series of 3 fitness classes designed to jump-start your summer workout routine!  Each session will feature a fun and energizing outdoor workout led by Allison—workouts she’s designed exclusively for our ABTG group.  Afterwards, we’ll cool down while Allison shares her best nutrition and workout tips to keep you motivated during these hot summer months.  Sign up for one class or all three (you’ll get a discount!)—just let us know you’re coming.

Summer Refresh:  This class combines stretching, toning and lengthening exercises through a series of Pilates-inspired movements.  As you break a sweat and challenge your muscles, we’ll learn about the mind-body connection and the importance of flexibility. (Hint: The more flexible you are the more calories you burn!)  Afterwards, Allison will discuss one of the most controversial topics in the field of nutrition, cleanses, where we’ll learn the do’s and don’ts of detoxification!

The Couple’s Advantage:  Okay, brace yourself:  The couple that stays together gains weight together.  That’s right.  Oftentimes, unconditional love can bring upon unflattering chub.  So, skip this weekend’s brunch buffet and opt for this couple’s workout instead. Allison will take you and your partner through a series of explosive exercises designed to give you a full body workout.  We’ll take the phrase “leaning on each other” to a whole new level.  And we’ll even give you the tools to recreate this workout together on your own time (umm…foreplay?)  Because the truth is a healthy couple is a happy couple!

Power in the Park:  Join us for an open-air workout along the beautiful Hudson River with Founder and President of Anything But the Gym, Mary Gillis.  Mary will guide you through a full body, muscle-toning workout without any weights, machines or unnecessary grunting.  You’ll learn to use your own body weight to get the job done.  And she'll teach you how to recreate this natural routine whenever, wherever.  No gym required.  But you know that already.
